Brink began her career in 1995 when she joined Pulse which was a group based out of Albany New York. It was primarily a support band for local bands such as Coal Chamber or Sevendust. The band later split. Following the move from California to Los Angeles from California at 25 years old, Brink moved to Los Angeles in 2002. Brink began working at stores as well as singing in bars. She was searching for groups. After a few years, Chris Howorth, a participant in the group that she's currently in, attended an interview with her. Howorth turned down her application because she is female. However, he changed his mind and apologized to her after having heard her sing. With drummer Jeff Fabb, they created the Dying Stars. Blake Bunzel on guitar and Josh Newell on bass joined the band afterward. In This Moment became the brand new name of the group following two live performances.
